Build Your Security Career in Regional Queensland.
RQSS is looking to build a professional network of security personnel across Cairns, Far North Queensland and other regional locations who value reliability, professionalism and doing the job properly.
We want good security people — not simply names on a roster.
As RQSS develops, particularly in Cairns and Far North Queensland, we are interested in hearing from appropriately licensed security personnel who take pride in their work.
We want people who turn up when they say they will, communicate professionally, understand their responsibilities and recognise that the security officer on site represents both RQSS and the client.
Opportunities will depend on client requirements, available work, location, licensing and the needs of each assignment.
Interested in growing with RQSS?
We are particularly interested in building relationships with experienced security personnel in Cairns and Far North Queensland as the local operation develops.
Expressions of interest are welcome even where there is no immediate position available.
Professional people who understand what good security looks like.
People We Can Rely On
Security coverage matters. Reliable attendance, punctuality and clear communication are fundamental expectations.
Professional Communicators
Security personnel regularly interact with clients, employees, contractors and members of the public and need to communicate appropriately.
People Who Take Responsibility
We value personnel who follow site instructions, escalate issues appropriately and produce clear and accurate reports.
Sound Judgement
Good security work requires calm decision-making and the ability to distinguish between routine issues and matters requiring escalation.
Comfortable With Regional Work
Some assignments may involve regional travel, project environments, industrial locations or work outside conventional office settings.
People Who Want to Build Something
RQSS is growing. We are interested in people who want to contribute to building a respected regional security operation.
Help us build a strong local RQSS team in Cairns.
Cairns and Far North Queensland are a major operational focus for RQSS, and building a reliable local workforce is central to that strategy.
Cayla Huhta leads the development of local operations in Cairns and will be closely involved in building relationships with security personnel across the region.
We want to know the capable people already working in the Cairns market and those who would like to be considered for future RQSS assignments.
We are interested in hearing from people with:
- Current Queensland security licensing
- Static guarding experience
- Construction or site-security experience
- Corporate or workplace security experience
- Government or public-facing security experience
- Event security experience
- Industrial or project experience
- Strong local Cairns and FNQ knowledge
Licensing matters — but attitude matters too.
Anyone performing regulated security work for RQSS must hold the appropriate Queensland licence for the duties they perform.
Individual assignments may also require specific competencies, inductions, clearances, licences, training or client requirements.
Meeting the technical requirements is only part of the picture. We are equally interested in reliability, communication, judgement and professional conduct.
Depending on the role, requirements may include:
- Current Queensland security licence
- Appropriate licence functions for the assignment
- Current identification and work rights
- Reliable transport where required
- Professional presentation
- Ability to prepare clear written occurrence reports
- Ability to follow site-specific instructions
- Availability appropriate to the assignment
- Site inductions or client-specific requirements
- Other relevant licences or competencies where required
The type of work RQSS is building towards.
Opportunities will vary as client requirements develop, but RQSS is focused on security work across the following environments.
Static Security
Site-based security positions involving access control, monitoring, asset protection and occurrence reporting.
Construction Security
Construction projects, infrastructure sites, equipment compounds and project-related guarding requirements.
Mining, Resources & Energy
Suitable regional and remote operational assignments in resource and energy environments.
Corporate & Workplace
Professional workplace security, staff-safety assignments and controlled-access requirements.
Government
Public-facing facilities, government workplaces and suitable local-government security requirements.
Events
Suitable corporate, government, community and regional event-security assignments.
What clients should be able to expect from our people.
Turn Up Prepared
Read the instructions, understand the assignment and arrive ready to perform the required role.
Represent the Client Professionally
Your conduct may shape a visitor’s first impression of the client’s workplace or project.
Communicate Early
If something affects attendance, coverage or the assignment, communicate before it becomes a problem.
Write It Down Properly
Significant incidents, observations and actions need clear, accurate and useful documentation.
Know When to Escalate
Good judgement includes recognising when an issue needs management, police, emergency services or another appropriate response.
Respect the Role
Security is a professional responsibility involving trust, access, confidentiality and accountability.
